Deeply Rooted Regenerative Market Garden

Deeply Rooted is a sister-run, first generation farm with a mission to grow and supply healthy and chemical-free vegetables, flowers, and herbs to Edmonton and the surrounding area. We believe food to be a form of medicine and when grown in a regenerative way, has the potential to heal people and the planet! We contribute to the land by incorporating the principles of permaculture and regenerative agriculture. In this way, carbon is stored, soil biology is enhanced and soil nutrients are replenished. We grow on less than 1 acre of land and use no large machinery or large tractors.

Healthy Soil = Healthy People & Healthy Planet!

What We Value

Honouring the Land

We believe to be stewards of the land. We respect and acknowledge the land on which we grow. To have the ability to work outside, close to nature, sun bathed with sweaty smiles is truly one of our greatest joys! We acknowledge that we are on Treaty 6 Territory and that specifically where we grow, is the traditional lands of Blackfoot, Cree, and Nakota peoples.

Using farming methods that enhance the earth

Instead of diminishing the current ecological systems, we wish to enhance them! We do this by encouraging carbon sequestration in the soils by starting with building healthy soils abundant in nutrients. Currently, the only things we add to the soil are compost and we do not use synthetic fertilizers or chemicals. We are at the stage of growing were we try and reduce tilling to only when necessary. We are not certified organic— however, we do not use any pesticides, herbicides or insecticides (organic or non-organic)!

Building community

We believe people are stronger when they work together. We see Deeply Rooted as a gathering space for the community. We look forward to hosting farm events on the land in the near future.

Simplicity

Sometimes the best things are the simplest. A good ole' sunset, a cup of tea, or a real meant hug. We're not trying to get to Mars we're here to dedicate our life to what we love. Home-grown healthy food.
